When Queensland sprint sensation Gout Gout crossed the finish line of 2025 in record-breaking style, the next chapter of his life was already taking shape off the track.

The 18-year-old, who grew up in Ipswich and quickly became one of Australia’s most talked-about athletic prospects, has purchased a brand-new, Plantation Homes move-in ready home in Spring Mountain, south-west of Brisbane, where he’ll live with his parents and siblings as he builds toward a packed 2026 season.

For Gout, choosing a completed home was about more than convenience. It was a strategic decision in a challenging housing market.

In southeast Queensland, population growth continues to outpace the supply of developable land, making ready-to-move-in options increasingly valuable for families and first home buyers alike.

“I chose Plantation Homes because it’s a great company. I’d heard great things about them, and the house designs just felt right,” Gout says.

“I can’t wait to get in my own pool - especially with the Australian summer... I’m keen to enjoy it with some friends.”

Owning his own home as he begins his senior competitive career means stability off the track so he can focus on what’s ahead. Gout is set to compete at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow before heading to the United States for the World Junior Championships. Those events will be among the biggest tests yet in a meteoric rise that has included national records and world attention.

Staying close to where he grew up was also important. His new address in Spring Mountain keeps him rooted in the community that has supported his ascent, while giving him and his family a place that suits both everyday living and his ambitious training schedule.

Move-in ready homes like Gout’s are increasingly appealing in the greater Brisbane region. With available greenfield land limited and long build pipelines common, completed homes offer certainty - buyers know what they’re getting, when they can move in, and they avoid many of the delays that come with traditional builds.

For a young athlete with a packed calendar and a vision for his future, that certainty matters.

Asked what having his own home means to him, Gout smiles: “Yeah, it feels amazing. I mean, that’s everyone’s dream - to be able to work and get your own home and gratefully - I’m able to have one now and I’ve just turned 18. It feels amazing, I couldn’t wish for anything else.”

As he balances training, competition and life at home, Gout’s story is fast becoming about more than sprinting alone. It reflects the choices that give Queenslanders the space and confidence to chase big goals - and live the life they imagine.
